๐พ The
Story of Luke — Jesus’ Life of Compassion and Grace
Part One:
The Birth of John the Baptist and Jesus
Luke begins with the births of John the
Baptist and Jesus, showing God’s hand in miraculous ways:
- An
angel announces John’s birth to Zechariah and Elizabeth
- Mary,
a young woman, is told she will bear Jesus, the Savior
- Angels
proclaim peace and joy to shepherds at Jesus’ birth
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace to those on whom His favor rests.”
Part Two:
Jesus’ Early Life and Ministry
Jesus grows in wisdom and favor.
At age twelve, He amazes teachers in the temple with His understanding of God’s
Word.
He begins His public ministry with:
- Teaching
about love, forgiveness, and the kingdom of God
- Healing
the sick, raising the dead, and feeding the hungry
- Showing
compassion to sinners, tax collectors, women, and the poor
“He has anointed me to proclaim good news to
the poor.”
Part Three:
Parables and Teachings
Luke records many of Jesus’ parables
emphasizing God’s mercy and inclusiveness:
- The
Good Samaritan: loving those others ignore
- The
Prodigal Son: forgiveness and restoration
- The
Rich Man and Lazarus: warning against selfishness
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save the
lost.”
Jesus’ teachings show that God’s love extends
to all people, not just the powerful or religious.
Part Four:
Miracles and Compassion
Jesus’ miracles demonstrate God’s power and
heart for people:
- Healing
lepers, blind, and paralyzed
- Calming
storms
- Feeding
thousands with a few loaves and fish
He challenges the proud and defends the
oppressed, showing that God’s kingdom is for the humble and faithful.
Part Five:
The Path to the Cross
Jesus knows He must suffer and die to
save humanity.
He teaches His disciples about humility, love, and faithfulness in the face of
trials.
“If anyone wants to be My disciple, let them
deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.”
Part Six:
