The
Story of 1 Thessalonians — Hope, Holiness, and Christ’s Return
Part One:
Encouragement and Faithfulness
Paul writes to the Thessalonian believers,
praising their faith, love, and perseverance:
“We always thank God for all of you,
mentioning you in our prayers.”
- Despite
persecution, they remain faithful
- Their
lives demonstrate the power of God’s Spirit working within them
- Believers
are called to encourage and build up one another
Part Two:
Living Holy Lives
Paul reminds the believers to live in ways
that honor God:
- Avoid
sexual immorality
- Control
desires and live in purity
- Work
diligently and help others
“For God did not call us to be impure, but to
live a holy life.”
- Holiness
is a sign of faith and commitment to Christ
Part Three:
Love and Community
Paul emphasizes love and unity:
- Encourage
each other, support the weak
- Live
peaceably and respectfully with everyone
- Show
God’s love through deeds and words
“Encourage the timid, help the weak, be
patient with everyone.”
Faith is expressed in community care and
love.
Part Four:
Hope in Christ’s Return
Paul reassures believers about Jesus’ second
coming:
- Those
who have died will be raised to life
- Believers
will be united with Christ forever
- This
hope inspires faithfulness and joy in the present
“For the Lord Himself will come down from
heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first.”
- Hope
in Christ shapes how believers live today
Part Five:
Lessons from 1 Thessalonians
1 Thessalonians teaches us:
- Faithfulness
in trials brings glory to God
- Holiness
and self-control honor Christ
- Love
for one another strengthens the community
